For the static test, a particularly handy press is used,
(weight 3.3 kg) with a maximum opening of 150 mm and a 75 mm gooseneck.

Operating principle of the durometer with calibrated pin
The calibrated plug rests on the end of the indenter (see diagram).
A load is applied either dynamically (hammer) or statically (press).
This load must be sufficient to shear the plug in one go.
Exactly 1580 KgF are transmitted to the indenter.
All that’s left to do is measure the resulting footprint.
